Portrait of Bea Gardner

Bea Gardner is an author, humorist, memoirist, interior designer, and playwright. Her work reflects a life of reinvention, creativity, resilience, friendship, family, design, aging, and humor.

Her newest book — Paxton Plays Pickleball — brings her signature warmth to a joyful story about the cardio, friendships, and multigenerational fun of pickleball. It joins her memoir The Hybrid Designer, her humor collection Bring It On… We're In Our 70's, and the two-act play Widows at the Club, co-written with David Russell.

From design to books

A creative life that kept widening.

Bea's creative life spans interior design, memoir, humor writing, theater, and now a playful pickleball-themed book for young readers and families. The thread through all of it: showing up, paying attention, and making something warm out of what's at hand.
