Money Wins Elections – DUH

money-buys-electionsIf the Donald and Hilary are stranded on a boat in the middle of the ocean, who survives?

If $75,000 goes to Sykes, Moss and Wells for their run for Vero Beach City Council, who wins?
The Shores

And, that about sums it all up folks. I just tried to watch the last presidential debate last night and I fell asleep and saw none of it. This morning all I heard about the debate on the TV is that Donald Trump would not commit to accepting the results of the election at this time. No talk at all on all of the TV stations except Fox about the positions of the candidates on taxes, immigration, jobs etc. Just the fact that Trump will not say for certain that he will accept the results of the election, no matter who wins. Yep, that’s all I heard about the debate. Sad indeed.

What is going on with this world?

Foreign money going into the Clinton foundation in order to get preferential treatment if Hillary gets elected, Russian’s hacking DNC e-mails in order to leak information to harm Hillary, and all the nasty being exposed about the Donald’s past with hitting on women, and a candidate that will not give press conferences so that she can be vetted by the public.

Why do I mention all of this? Well, the very same type of shenanigans have crept into local elections. Seems that all I am reading about locally is the fact that Indian River Shores is not only trying to steal the Electric Utility Customers from the City of Vero Beach at an unfair price, they are also trying to steal the Vero Beach Election. It appears that they have put together their “team” consisting of Sykes, Moss and Wells. If two of the three of them can get elected to the Vero Beach City Council – voila- they have the three votes (Harry Howle) to control Vero Beach. Scary stuff, my friends, very scary.

So, on a National level and a Local level, the fix is in. It gets harder and harder for anyone to have any faith in elections because it is harder and harder for the average Joe to keep track of all of this, thus these kinds of shenanigans will continue to take place in elections. Nothing is illegal about the Shores having all of this power over the Vero Beach elections folks, just a matter of following the money. So, when you follow the money on local and national elections you are usually going to be able to understand why the outcome.

The only thing I find interesting about the national election is that Las Vegas odds are going for Trump. They are saying this is much like Brixet. In other words, no one expected English voters to exit the EU and they did. If that type of outcome is what Las Vegas is predicting for the National election, what is the prediction for the Vero Beach election? G-d bless the City of Vero Beach. It might be on its way out.

  1. Curtis Carpenter says:

$117,684 has been contributed to Sykes, Wells, Moss, and “Operation Flip Switch”

$107,599 have come from Indian River Shores residents and FPL.

This is the very definition of trying to buy an election.

  2. Bea-isms says:

My sentiments exactly Curtis….This is exactly what is happening in Vero Beach so can you all see what must be going on Nationally as well.

BTW, let’s hear it for the Cleveland Indians. Hope they can bring it home.

  3. Peter Gorry says:

From long ago and far away I remember the Howdy Doody Show.

Perhaps an analogy to the upcoming VB City Council election.

Puppets manipulated by Buffalo Bob (BB), including Mr Bluster, Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring as well as Flub a Dub and Clarabell (a clown).

    Subsequently, Clarabell became Capt Kangaroo.

I for one, cherish Vero Beach -Vote wisely

  4. Cedric says:

Something very strange happened last week when the Press Journal endorsed Tony Young and Randy Old. For sure Tony and Randy are great candidates with impressive backgrounds in their chosen fields, Tony in the military and Randy in world wide banking. Both want to sell Vero electric, but at a fair price, not the “give away” proposed by their opposition who are controlled by IRS and FPL money in the most blatant attempt to control the city. It looks like the PJ editors had the nerve to go against their boss and endorsed Old and Young. Credit must be given to the editors who saw that Tony and Randy are just that exceptional.

  5. Cedric says:

Looks like 30 day wilson is trying to stifle’s right to print a newspaper. one must wonder if wilson is supporting Sykes, Moss and Wells. His complaint is going nowhere.

  6. Jonas says:

I have lived in Vero Beach almost all my adult life. Have read the papers etc and kept up with has been going on for all those years. Never ever have I seen a city election quite like this one, and there have been some interesting ones. It is my hope that the citizens of Vero Beach have done their homework and can see thru the “Shores Team”.
Please vote for the 3 candidates Old, Young and Gorry.
I own a business and every morning I’ve had to pull a sign off the front of my property. I have not given permission for anyone to put one there specially one I don’t support.

I would love to know how much FPL has given, not contributed, over the years to Mayfield, Fletcher, Carroll, Turner, Wilson, Heran, Faherty, Moss, and others. Have they claimed it on their taxes?
