Who is a liar, cheat and a thief? Well, I believe it would be someone that would try to cheat the city out of money.
I’ll tell you the story and you can determine if this qualifies to be called a liar, cheat, or a thief, or any and all of the above.
A certain city council person who was on the city payroll while serving his term was taken off the payroll when he was voted out of office. You got that. Well, this certain now un-elected person apparently decided to cheat the city out of money by applying for un-employment compensation since he no longer is getting a check from the city because he was not re-elected.
Apparently he got caught and the issue is now in dispute and my guess is that the city will not be honoring this un-employment claim. BTW, are you even allowed to collect un-employment when you are employed by another? Just asking.
Here’s another good story that just came to my attention.
What do you do if you are no longer hogging center stage in Vero Beach?…….Well, I guess you go play in someone else’s sandbox. That is exactly what Brian Heady and Glenn Heran recently did. Apparently they managed to get themselves on the agenda for a Lake Worth City Council meeting with a slick power point presentation telling Lake Worth citizens that they are paying too much for their electric bills, and that if they want to do the right thing for their citizens they would ask FPL to come in and check out the possibility of buying their electric utility. Hmmm. Sound familiar????

I must say, I have not heard of any former elected official applying for unemployment compensation.
The City of Vero Beach voters voted on a referendum setting the salary of her elected officials. That referendum became part of the City of Vero Beach’s Charter. Any changes to that particular issue have to be voted on by referendum.
Elected officials are voted into office…elected officials are not hired by the city. Elected officials work for the residents of the City…not for the City Manager.
Bea, just so your reading public knows, I never considered myself as an employee of the City. I was an elected official and an appointed official (to replace one who was removed from office).
And I never filed for unemployment compensation from the City of Vero Beach.
Sounds to me like kickbacks from FP&L to certain peeps. Why in the heck would they be pushing soooooo hard?????
Ken, I never really did think you would do anything like this but….thanks for clearing up your name.
I never thought about kickbacks and I really do not know how that works but I merely thought they were just wanting more attention. We will have to play this one out.
Bea — Not to rain on your parade, but back in November Brian told me he had to file some paperwork with the government about his job ending to have his Social Security check reinstated after he was no longer receiving a council paycheck. He told me in case it came up for some reason at City Hall. Might want to double check your information about him applying for unemployment benefits.
Lisa, You are not raining on my parade. What you were told and what took place could be two very different things. Three little birdies told me the same story. He filed for unemployment compensation, plain and simple. Unless proven otherwise I will stand on my story.
I can think of a bazillion better things to do with my time than sticking my nose in the business of some out-of-my-county community. It may well be they intend to bring down the FMPA (is that correct title?) by going after one member at a time. To me, that indicates there is more going on than meets the eye.
As far as any elected person attempting to apply for unemployment after being UNelected, I guess I’ll just wait and see what happens. Am super concerned about our police department right now.
Cathy, you may be on to something. I wonder if Lake Worth is a member of FMPA. That could make a little sense of why these two clowns are heading over there with their dog and pony show. I read the presentation and it seems to me they are working behind the scenes to get another city, (Lake Worth in this instance) to ASK FPL to come to the table. Just like what was done in the city of Vero Beach. Then the party begins. The city in question does all the work, spends all the money to get out of the power business and in steps the knight in shinning armor, FPL.
FMPA is made up of 30 municipalities..2 down, 28 more to go?? It does appear peculiar that FPL sits on the sidelines, while these guys make their pitch. FPL states it does not enter without being invited, right? It seems that Herann (and now Heady?) are the ringers of the doorbell, and FPL is just lirking in the shadows….but wait! FPL says that they have NO relationship with Herann or Heady so maybe it’s that other guy from the Mourings.. FPL has NO idea what Herann & Heady have done to Vero and are now trying to do to Lake Worth on their behalf. Sure they don’t. Why are they (H & H) doing all this work? Is it simply because they CARE about the down trodden consumers? From what I could dig up, it seems they like and or need money. They may have held a little more water if they stuck closer to home..travelling to other places to present and promote FPL just doesn’t seem as above board as they’d like us to believe.
I wonder if they will take their presentation to South Daytona Beach, you know, the City that has UN-invited FPL?
You raise a lot of good points Magnum. FPL could not have found two better characters than H & H. They both love the spotlight that is for sure and they seem to get a lot of attention with their little dog and pony shows. Have dogs and pony’s…will travel….I just don’t get that. WIIFM rings a bell. You know, the old, What’s In It For Me. I guess at this point only Brian and Glenn can answer that.
